Non-surgical fat reduction with no incisions or anesthesia

Safely eliminates resistant fat cells

Little to no downtime or recovery period

Natural, gradual results that refine body contour

What is it?

CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive fat reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling technology to permanently eliminate stubborn fat cells that resist diet and exercise. It’s an ideal option for individuals seeking subtle body contouring without surgery or downtime.

At AvenueMD, all CoolSculpting® treatments are performed under medical supervision to ensure safety, precision, and consistency. Dr. Salsberg, Dr. Motakis and the AvenueMD team use customized treatment plans to target areas such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, back, and under the chin.

Unlike weight loss, which shrinks fat cells, CoolSculpting® actually destroys them—allowing the body to process and naturally eliminate the treated fat over time. The result is a smoother, more refined silhouette that looks natural and balanced.

How does it work?

CoolSculpting® uses a scientifically proven process called cryolipolysis. The treatment applicator delivers controlled cooling to the targeted area, freezing fat cells while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed. Over the following weeks, the body naturally metabolizes and eliminates the damaged fat cells through the lymphatic system.

Each session typically lasts 35–60 minutes per treatment area. Patients may feel mild pulling, pressure, or cold sensations during the first few minutes, which soon subside as the area becomes numb. Because the procedure is non-invasive, most patients return to normal activities immediately afterward.

Visible results begin to appear within three to four weeks, with the most significant improvement seen at two to three months as the body continues to process the treated fat.

Recovery and downtime

There is little to no downtime with CoolSculpting®. Patients can resume work and daily activities immediately. Temporary side effects such as redness, numbness, or mild tenderness may occur but usually resolve within a few days.

Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), is a rare and uncommon side effect of CoolSculpting (occurring in less than 0.2% of patients), in which the treated area becomes firmer or slightly enlarged instead of reducing. While unexpected, it occurs infrequently and can be effectively addressed with additional treatments if needed.

Results are gradual, providing a natural transition in contour rather than a sudden or artificial change. Once the treated fat cells are eliminated, they do not return—making results long-lasting when paired with a healthy lifestyle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a good candidate for CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is ideal for individuals who are near their ideal body weight but have localized fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise. It is not a weight-loss treatment but a contouring procedure.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients see improvement after one or two sessions per area. The number of treatments depends on the amount of fat and the desired level of refinement.

Is the treatment painful?

Discomfort is minimal. Patients may feel intense cold or pressure at the start of the treatment, which quickly subsides as the area becomes numb.

When will I see results?

Noticeable results appear gradually within three to four weeks, with full results typically visible after two to three months.

Are results permanent?

Yes. The fat cells destroyed during treatment are permanently eliminated. However, maintaining a stable weight is important to preserve results.

Can CoolSculpting® be combined with other treatments?

Yes. CoolSculpting® can complement Emsculpt® for muscle definition or Forma Plus for skin tightening as part of AvenueMD’s integrated body-contouring programs.
