Improves fine lines, mild scars, and uneven tone

Refines texture and minimizes pore visibility

Natural, gradual improvement with minimal downtime

What is it?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that harnesses the body’s natural healing response to rejuvenate the skin from within. It involves the use of a sterile device containing ultra-fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin’s surface. These microchannels trigger collagen and elastin production—key components of youthful, resilient skin.

At AvenueMD, microneedling is performed under the supervision of Dr. Salsberg and Dr. Motakis using advanced, medical-grade devices that ensure precision and safety. Each treatment is customized according to your skin’s condition and goals, helping improve fine lines, texture, acne scars, and mild pigmentation irregularities.

The result is smoother, firmer, more luminous skin that looks refreshed—without changing your natural features.

How does it work?

During the treatment, a microneedling device glides across the skin, creating thousands of microscopic punctures that stimulate the body’s healing process. This encourages the production of new collagen and elastin fibers while enhancing skin-cell turnover.

The treatment typically lasts 30–45 minutes. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand for comfort, and most patients experience only mild warmth or tingling during the procedure.

Microneedling can also enhance the absorption of active serums—such as hyaluronic acid, growth factors and PRP—allowing for deeper nourishment and improved results. A series of three to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart provides the best outcomes.

Recovery and downtime

Recovery is minimal. The skin may appear pink or lightly flushed for 24–48 hours, similar to a mild sunburn. Makeup can usually be applied after 24 hours.

Mild dryness or sensitivity may occur for a few days as the skin renews itself. Results begin to appear within two weeks, with continued improvement in tone, texture, and firmness over several months as collagen remodeling takes place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a good candidate for Microneedling?

Microneedling is suitable for most skin types and tones. It’s ideal for patients seeking natural skin renewal, improvement in fine lines, mild scarring, and uneven texture.

How many treatments will I need?

A typical program includes three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Maintenance sessions every six to twelve months help sustain collagen renewal.

Is Microneedling painful?

Discomfort is minimal. A topical numbing cream ensures the treatment is well tolerated, and any warmth or tingling subsides quickly afterward.

When will I see results?

Visible improvement often appears within two to three weeks, with optimal results developing over several months as collagen production increases.

Can Microneedling be combined with other treatments?

Yes. Microneedling can be safely combined with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), RF technology, or chemical peels to further enhance skin texture and radiance.

What are the risks or side effects?

Side effects are mild and temporary, such as redness or slight swelling. Rarely, minor pinpoint bruising may occur but resolves within days.
