What is it?

The V-Beam® is a medical-grade pulsed-dye laser (PDL) designed specifically to treat redness, vascular lesions, and broken capillaries. It works by delivering targeted bursts of light that are absorbed by hemoglobin within blood vessels, causing them to collapse safely without damaging surrounding tissue.

At AvenueMD, Dr. Salsberg, Dr. Motakis and their team use the V-Beam® as the gold-standard treatment for vascular conditions such as rosacea, facial redness, spider veins and post-inflammatory flushing. The device’s dynamic cooling technology protects the skin’s surface during each pulse, ensuring comfort and safety for all skin types.

The result is a visibly clearer, calmer complexion with restored uniformity and confidence.

How does it work?

The V-Beam® emits pulses of yellow light at a wavelength specifically absorbed by red blood cells. This targeted energy gently heats and collapses unwanted blood vessels, which the body then naturally clears over time.

The treatment is highly precise—affecting only the targeted vessels—while the laser’s cooling system sprays a burst of cryogen before each pulse to protect the skin and minimize discomfort.

Sessions typically last 15–30 minutes depending on the area treated. A series of three to five treatments spaced four to six weeks apart achieves optimal and lasting results.

Recovery and downtime

Downtime is minimal. Redness or swelling may occur, and in some cases, light bruising (“purpura”) can appear before fading. Patients can usually return to normal activities immediately after treatment, with makeup applied the next day if desired.

As redness subsides, skin tone appears more even and balanced, with continued improvement over several weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a good candidate for V-Beam® Laser treatment?

The V-Beam® is ideal for individuals with redness, rosacea, broken capillaries, or visible facial veins. It can also treat vascular birthmarks and redness from acne or scars.

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients require three to five sessions spaced about a month apart. Maintenance treatments once or twice per year help sustain long-term clarity.

Is the treatment painful?

Discomfort is minimal. The device’s cooling system protects and numbs the skin with each pulse, making the experience gentle and tolerable.

When will I see results?

Improvement is often visible after the first session, with redness continuing to fade as treatments progress and vessels are reabsorbed naturally.

Can V-Beam® treat rosacea safely?

Yes. It is widely regarded as the safest and most effective laser for managing the redness and flushing associated with rosacea.

Are results permanent?

Treated vessels are permanently eliminated, though new ones can form over time. Periodic maintenance helps maintain optimal results.

Can V-Beam® be combined with other treatments?

Yes. It pairs well with IPL Photofacial, chemical peels, or Red Light Therapy for comprehensive tone correction and skin-health maintenance.
